V’Zakeinu Legadel: Our Tefilah and our Duty

Behind the little desk sits an adorable seven-year old boy. His ears strain to hear every word his Rebbe says and his brain overexerts to grasp the meaning of the pasuk. His body is filled with tension and his eyebrows are furrowed nervously. The intense anxiety radiates off of him to all around. Little Kalman is struggling to comprehend the learning which continuously and stubbornly eludes him. 

How he longs to finally experience the Aha! moment of comprehension.

How he wishes he can be among the other children who look like him but are so very different.

How he dreams of the day that his Rebbe will cater lessons specifically for him, so he too can finally understand pesukim that his classmates seem to get easily.

Until Legadel came on the scene, Kalman could only dream. Between tutors that were unaffordable and unfeasible, and a cheder that could not possibly cater to struggling students as necessary, Kalman was stuck in the misery of failure and inferiority.

Legadel brought light and happiness to Kalman. He is finally among peers who get him. His learning is being catered to his level and type of comprehension. He no longer needs to be shunted from one therapy to the other. Where would he be without Legadel?

Not only for Kalman, but to every child like him, Legadel has been life altering—even lifesaving. With branches in a number of yeshiva and girls school buildings, Legadel provides the crucial educational services that these children so desperately rely on.

But today Legadel turns to the community for help. Being divided in three separate locations is no longer an option, and Legadel desires — no, needs — to provide eligible children with all professional services under one roof. The planned grand Legadel Cheder and school will cater to the sector in the community of struggling students so that they too can have a place they can call their own. 

Though there is no public funding for building such a center, Legadel felt the urgent necessity of constructing such a space, and so jumped in with a vision and determination on behalf of these children. Can the young boys and girls and the Legadel team count on you too?
